Dear friends,
I’m guessing we all have something we are seeking God’s clarity on. I know I do!
On a regular basis, it’s the small daily questions I bring to God. What do you ask of me to say right now in this conversation? What is the invitation in this moment? What are you showing me in the right here and now, God? Other times, it is the larger questions I bring to God for clarity. What is your vision for my life, God? What are your hopes and dreams for me? What is my call?
No matter the question, whether big or small, seeking God’s clarity involves three important movements: Ask, Wait, and Step.
Ask:
Our first step in receiving God’s clarity is asking God. When we are longing to know our way forward, we can ask God for help. In our daily life, this is often a silent prayer as we are in motion or in conversation. It is the prayer of the right now—God, help me here. Help me see. Give me words. Show me the way.
When we are seeking God’s clarity on larger items, our asking happens in that special time we set apart to be with God in prayer. Asking God over days, weeks, or even months for clarity is an important part of our journey towards clarity.
Wait:
Sometimes the hardest part is waiting for God’s answer. This takes practice, patience, and trust. Waiting on the Lord strengthens us in hope and builds our faith. Union comes when we wait for God. The Holy Spirit will unify and align our hearts and vision with God when we wait and give time to allow this to happen.
In our daily life, waiting may look like a pause before speaking or acting. When seeking answers on a bigger decision, our waiting takes time. Giving God the gift of our time allows God to unite us with God and also with others impacted by the clarity we seek.
Step:
God will illuminate our next right step as we ask and wait. Sometimes the next right step feels like a tiny breadcrumb that God invites us to follow. Other times, the next step is larger and may feel even more tangible. The power of asking God and waiting for God’s answer that God unifies us. The next step we take becomes a step taken together. We step forward with God. We step forward with God and others.
With God:
Each piece of the journey to clarity holds an invitation to be with God. We can live our daily lives with God in this way. We can live God’s dreams for our lives with God this way. The Holy Spirit multiplies the fruit that is born out of our words and actions when we live with God.
I pray you find your way with God. Ask God. Wait for God. Step with God.
