From a Word from Becky, my monthly newsletter to my readers

Dear friends,

There is a word growing within me…conviction.  I was surprised last Monday when a friend named this word to me after listening to me rather passionately share what God keeps bringing to my attention about the needs I see and my call.  She said, “Becky, I hear conviction.”

The second I heard the word I knew she was right.  It landed in my core.  After we hung up, I got in my mini-van to pick up our son from school.  I turned the radio off and drove the Baton Rouge streets with silence embracing me.  I held the word in my heart.  Conviction.  I savored it. Conviction.  It resonated deeply in me.  Conviction.  I said it out loud.  Conviction.  As the minutes passed making my way to our son, I knew Jesus was anchoring something permanently in me. Conviction of belief.  Conviction of what I see.  Conviction of the response.  Conviction of my call.

In the silence of my mini-van driving the streets of Baton Rouge with traffic sounds in the background, I made a deeper profession of faith to Jesus.  With conviction, I professed my belief in him being with me and my commitment to do what he is asking me.

There are dozens of unanswered questions.  The way forward is stepping into God’s unfolding Mystery that will no doubt take me into deep waters.  I feel ready, eager, and yet full of holy awe that holds this strange mix of confidence and trepidation at the same time.  It’s time to step forward and make the final steps into what Jesus has been readying me to do for years:  create a home to gather those called to seek deeper waters of faith.  The need is the call.  The call is from Christ.  Conviction.

I write to you today begging for your prayers for me and my team as we step forward with conviction, trusting the call that Jesus gave us to respond to the longing and hungers we see.  Pray that we may continue to walk the path unfolded by the one who is “the way, the truth and the life” with conviction, courage, and confidence.

Know of my prayers for you each and every day.  In gratitude for your witness of faith and in faith that you may know you are not alone.

Peace,

Becky
